Today’s costume idea is a fun and simple way to make a paper bag grass skirt from items that you likely already have at your house. Here is what you will need:
Brown paper sack
Backstage Costume Tape
And here are the detailed instructions of how to make the skirt:
Cut the paper bag along the edge of one of the corners.
Cut the bottom of the bag completely off.
Now you have one big flat sheet of paper bag material. Start on one edge of the bag and cut a thin strip, approx. 1/2” wide from the bottom to approx 6” from the top.
Repeat step 3 every 1/2” until there are strips along the entire width of the bag.
Now put the paper bag around the waist of the person who will be wearing it to measure how big it should be.
Use Backstage Costume Tape to secure the skirt to itself.
Enjoy your Aloha Party!
Tip: If you are needing a larger skirt, just repeat the cutting work on a second bag and connect it together with the first one using Backstage Costume Tape. You can also cut off some of the bag if the skirt is too large.
